Tiger Striders

Tiger Striders is a daily before-school run club where students can run, jog, or walk for 15 minutes before school. The purpose of our run club is to promote lifelong healthy habits while building our sense of Chabot community.  Schools that implement morning exercise programs have shown improved school attendance and test scores.  Exercising before school can enhance students’ abilities to focus and learn, positively regulate mood, and impact self-control, behavior, and resilience in the classroom.

When and Where is Tiger Striders?

  • Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays 7:40–7:55am
  • Tuesdays (late start) 8:408:55am
  • Enter at Gate 6.
  • Only registered Strider students and their adult will be allowed on campus early.
  • We will cancel due to poor air quality, lack of volunteers, and poor weather.
  • We will text message via Remind app to let parents and guardians know it’s cancelled.

Who Can Participate?

  • We encourage all students to participate.
  • We recognize that our younger students will need more supervision.
  • We ask that students enrolled in TK, K, 1st grade, and SDCs be supervised by their adult while participating.
  • Students must wear shoes and weather appropriate.

How Do We Join?

Fill out these required forms:

  • Tigers Striders Google Form
  • Tigers Striders Liability & Permission Form
  • Tigers Striders Code of Conduct & Expectations
  • Megan’s Law for Volunteers if not already on file

* All forms are linked to the Google Form.

* All forms need to be submitted 2 school days prior to starting with Tiger Striders.

  • Each student’s adult must commit to volunteer with Tiger Striders once a week.
  • You will be given information to join our Remind text group which will only send you a text message if Striders is cancelled for any reason.

Will It Be Fun?

  • Yes, we will have music and cheer the students along the way.
  • Each participant will receive a badge to track their distance through Stridetrack software.
  • We will be recognizing participation by issuing mileage cards at 5 miles, 10 miles, 20 miles and a marathon. In the future, we hope to compile mileage for each grade level and for the whole school.

How Far Has My Child Run?

What is the Volunteer Commitment?

  • In order for our Chabot students to benefit from this run club, we need to all work together.  If your child is participating in Tiger Striders, you will need to volunteer in-person at least 1x per week.  Most of the volunteer roles take 5-15 minutes.
  • If you are unable to volunteer in-person, please contact TigerStriders@chabotparentsclub.org to find other ways to support this program.
  • Adults who are present and not in a specific volunteer role are encouraged to join the students walking/running.  Adults are expected to follow the Tiger Striders Code of Conduct and demonstrate good Paw Power behavior and attitude for our students.
